Activeyes’ founder Nick Browning has spent more than 25 years growing optical businesses and has developed a unique blend of experience and expertise in both independent and multiple retailing, in addition to the wholesale market.
Nick’s early career was spent within the multiple sector, at Vision Express and Specsavers, in roles including retail development, operations, and business turn-around. He also built and sold a successful business, recruiting optometrists, dispensing opticians and veterinarians from Southern Africa to Europe,
Nick has headed up both Shamir UK and BBGR Independents, driving significant growth through commercial partnerships with independent practice and lab owners. He also devised and launched the successful Optometrist Led Recommendation Programme (OLR) at Essilor, whilst contributing to the UK group executive team.
A firm believer in the necessity for, and potential in, the independent optical market, Nick has a special interest in developing the sports eyewear segment.
Father of two, Nick balances his busy work schedule by spending quality time with his family. Having spent many years in South Africa (which included competing in the Comrades Ultramarathon on four occasions), his favourite means of relaxation continues to be enjoying barbecues with his family, who are season ticket holders at Peterborough United FC – ‘the Posh’. An avid music fan, ‘70’s and ‘80’s heavy rock, country music and progressive rock are Nick’s favourite genres.
